Sisters in Purple

Sisters in Purple, a Harlem-based, survivor-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by domestic violence, community violence, and injustice.
Founded in 2020 as a survivor-led grassroots coalition Sisters in Purple was founded by three distinguished survivors and community advocates — Angelina Rosado (Returning Hope, Inc.), Shamara Kelly (Voices of Women; Black Families United in Love), and Erika Lucille Ewing (Got To Stop, LLC) — united by a shared commitment to raise awareness and provide vital resources to survivors and impacted families.
At Sisters in Purple, our mission is to empower survivors of trauma through healing, advocacy, and community. We create safe and courageous spaces for individuals impacted by domestic violence, teen dating violence, gender-based violence, and gun violence.
Beyond direct support, we champion policy and legislative reform—raising awareness, advancing systemic change, and amplifying survivor voices to build a safer, more compassionate community for all.
